About Emma

I am Specialist Mental Health Nurse Practitioner by background and remain passionate about my work in the NHS having worked my way up to senior management over the past 17 years. Here I get to practice my clinical therapy and coaching skills with my staff which I love but do feel somewhat frustrated by the lack of modalities practiced within the NHS. I truly believe that for lasting change, one needs to work with both their conscious and subconscious mind. 


For this reason I have been branching out with private clients and completed additional training in hypnotherapy and NLP. I now offer a wide range of modalities and can create a blended approach to help you in your area of need. I very much work with a bio-psycho-social approach. All three areas generally need to be improved upon in order that we may be able to work to our best ability. Within bio I can assess and review any potential need for psychotropic medication and advise your GP accordingly. However bio does not just pertain to medication – there are many other ways to bring our hormone levels back in line and these include a focus on nutrition, movement and stress management. Within psycho we are working to improve thought processes and emotional regulation which will generally be addressed through skilled based talking therapy – again addressing both the conscious and unconscious mind and really focusing on any limiting self beliefs. And finally we address social needs - this will focus on improving relationships at home and within your community in order to really feel a sense of belonging .

My Experience

I qualified as a Mental Health Nurse in 2007 and began to work on the acute admissions ward for a few years before moving onto the intensive community treatment team. Within these roles I got to grips with the basics and in particular got to focus on wellness action planning, self-harm and suicide prevention along with cognitive behavioural approaches. In 2011 I completed my Nurse Prescribing which put me in a position to offer prescribing advise to GPs on psychotropic medication especially when covering the out of hours referrals to A&E. 


In 2013 I went into management and at that time was in charge of the busiest acute ward in the region with the highest admission rate. Within this role I developed a passion for quality improvement and building staff resilience. This lead me on to complete additional training with the IHI in QI and coaching. I mentored and managed several different multidisciplinary QI projects; one of which went on to win the very prestigious Burdett Award. 


In 2017 I took up a secondment opportunity to create a new role within Mental Health looking a improving flow through acute services given the success in my area of management. This had a real focus on outcomes based accountability. At this time I started my journey into Senior Management and commenced providing on-call support during evening and weekends, overseeing the safe delivery of care across all MH services within my Trust. 


Given the much identified need to involve families in treatment delivery, training was commissioned which I completed and then went on to deliver myself. I became passionate about working with families and got to implement this training with the BFT model up until covid arrived. 


Just prior to covid I went to work as an Emergency MH Practitioner within A&E and also with the Multiagency Triage Team (PSNI and NIAS). 


In late 2020 I moved to a permanent senior management role in Learning Disability Services before enjoying two maternity leave periods commencing in 2022. In 2022 I completed my NLP and Hypnotherapy training and have been building experience with these modalities on an ad hoc basis since.

I Needed To Stop Overeating

I went to Emma to get to the bottom of my secret overeating and snacking. She was so helpful and I really liked the hypnosis. But I also found the talking side of things really helpful for working through things and helping me to understand. Thank you.

Felt So Relaxed

I asked Emma to help me with my self-confidence. As a life coach, I suffer from imposter syndrome, but Emma's intervention has significantly helped me. Her friendly, approachable yet very professional manner put me at ease very quickly. Sleep Hypnotherapy

Emma is an absolutely fantastic hypnotherapist. I have had a history of very poor sleep for almost 5 years! Emma is so welcoming, easy to talk to, a great listener and really helped me start to initiate and work through ways to help me try and reduce my thoughts and stresses at the root cause of this through visualisation and hypnotherapy recordings. I have been working through a few sessions and have put plans into action that will definitely help my sleep long term. I am progressing with my sleep and this has definitely helped so far. I am really grateful to have found Emma and highly recommend sessions with her.

First Time Trying Hypnotherapy

Emma was amazing I had gone to her for some hypnotherapy related to my anxiety from childhood trauma and she was so good at fully explaining everything to me to help put my mind at ease. Having done meditating before I found it was easy enough to settle into the session and Emma was a great and encouraging guide throughout. I got so much out of my sessions with her. To a point where my social anxiety had gone. I still have some anxiety at times but I’m finding that I am processing it much quicker and it isn’t coming up as frequently as it would have before.
