I was a Mother of four kids juggling work, and looking after my children & elderly parents. I was being torn in several directions, it wasn’t a recipe for doing anything particularly well.

For a number of years, I worked as a nurse in the NHS. It’s a great caring profession, but it’s really not compatible with bringing up a young family. Long hours, shifts that never finished on time and the toll of unsociable hours caused havoc with my life and wrecked my sleeping as well.

Although I enjoyed my work, it caused a lot of stress and anxiety. If you add in the costs of child care, it all becomes unmanageable. It was at this point I turned to hypnotherapy to see if it could help me cope. It worked really well and helped me to deal with the stress and anxiety. This in turn helped me to sleep better. It also made me see that nursing isn’t a viable career when you have a young family.

I ended up working in a school, which was for me a natural progression as I like to work with people. the hours were much better and I really enjoyed working with the children. It could be a stressful job, but it was much more conducive to family life.

Hypnotherapy and its ability to make real and lasting changes really inspired me to help other people who had been through the same challenges. I experienced first-hand how effective it can be and it was a natural extension of my wanting to help people which attracted me to nursing in the first place.
