Jo Anna Price-Hoppe

I love my work more and more the longer I practice. I worked at a Pastoral Counseling Center for 29 years. At that time in my life, I decided to leave there and to open a Private Practice; that was something I had been thinking about doing for several

of years. I am very happy with my work. I have supervised a play therapy group and have

co-led a family therapy group for seven years. I have enjoyed supervising one intern and two practicum students during the

last two years.

I believe that good psychotherapy is based on the relationship between the client and therapist. It requires trust and a willingness to self-disclose about painful issues. It requires hard work on the part of the client, if the client truly

wants to make life changes.

I am eclectic, because I like to use many different techniques, deciding what fits a particular client's needs. I will self-disclose

if I decide it can be helpful to the client. I believe we are all on

a journey in life, and we are here to help each other. I practice

living fully in the present, active listening skills, compassion, and empathy. I work to provide hope, comfort, and encouragement to clients. I will make suggestions when

asked to do so, because I believe clients need to brainstorm

and come up with a number of possible of options and coping

strategies so that they can make better choices in behaviors

and actions after thinking and examining a larger picture than

the one with which they started.
