Stress does not merely mean unpleasant experiences, but rather any biological stressors, physical or emotional, which prompt a protective reaction in the body which may alter the physiologic equilibrium known as homeostasis.
Stress in this physiological sense may be subtle and may not necessarily be noticed. Merely hearing loud sounds or seeing bright lights may be stressful in this context.
Who is affected by CFS?
Anyone can get CFS, although it is more common in women than in men. It usually develops in the early 20s to mid-40s. Children can also be affected, usually between the ages of 13 and 15.
The condition is thought to have its origins in viral infection, problems with the immune system, hormone imbalance or sometimes psychiatric problems, such as stress and emotional trauma.
How Hypnosis Provides Relaxation for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
It is not known precisely how hypnotherapy helps with CFS. However, it is thought to help clients to visualize enhancing the immune system's own capacity to imagine strengthening and healing itself by using deep relaxation combined with visual imagery. This Chronic Fatigue Syndrome hypnosis audio session will guide you through the various relaxation stages before reaching a healing pool. There is a certain difference between sleep and hypnosis and it is this latter stage that has been proved by brain scans to change the colored areas of the brain that respond to what we are visualizing.
