Due to Covid-19, many people have been confined to their homes; others are taking the necessary precautions by distancing, adhering to sanitising regulations and wearing face coverings to protect others (and ultimately) themselves) and it is hoped that once the vaccines are fully rolled out we might be able to return to some level of normalcy.
In the meantime, a new problem that a lot of therapists are coming across, is a fear of wearing face masks for various reasons. Some clients feel that they are being smothered, others may feel they can't breathe and become anxious or panicky at the thought of wearing a mask.
In some cases it might be necessary to deal with the root cause, using regression or ideomotor signals to establish what is behind the client's fear. However, you will ultimately need a suggestive approach in order for them to feel more comfortable and this Fear of Wearing Face Masks can help by anchoring the mask to something or someone who your client loves and respects, which this script is aimed at helping with.
