Unwanted memories
Hello, I'm new to hypnotherapy. I've heard from some people that blocking a memory from retrieval permanently has been successful for some, and I wanted to ask if this is really possible.
I have a memory that is bothering me, I've worked through it with a therapist, however it has hindered my growth and my ability to live normally again. My only hope is medication.
If it is possible, could I have it permanently blocked from conscious retrieval, or be given a suggestion to believe it never happen (was a bad dream or made up event)? Or something like that? I know it's impossible to erase memories, but blocking them gives essentially the same wanted effect.
Thank you.
Re: Unwanted memories
Blocking a memory isn't the same as erasing, it just won't work. You can't push it away I'm afraid, it will manifest in other ways and ultimately probably make you physically ill as the trauma seeks an outlet. Its far better to deal with the memory, sensitively. Blessings.
Re: Unwanted memories
I was suffering from anxiety issues for years before I decided to go for hypnotherapy sessions. Hypnotherapy has helped me a lot through the years and now, as a way to give back to the world, I am working on getting a counselling diploma from the holistic healing college- (https://www.healingcollege.co.uk/).
As you can see, hypnotherapy has turned my life around and I would absolutely recommend it for you.
