I have a client who has come to stop smoking. He drives alot and that is when he smokes most.
I have tried three different approaches and scripts with him but nothing is working. I have tried parts therapy so speaking to the part that wants to smoke, aversion therapy and the craving script from here
He is coming in again next week to see me. Any ideas.
Re:
explore what he 'gets' from smoking (benefits). if there's a particular feeling that prompts him to smoke (like stress, boredom, me time, defiance) and other than boredom (which can be disconnected with direct suggestion hypnosis) do a regression to cause for that feeling, then disconnect it, then connect his 'resource feeling'/how he wants to feel instead of the negative feeling,....connect that to all of his triggers, e.g. "each and every time you get into the car, whether driving or riding, you immediately feel ____(resource feeling)...and that enables you to drive smoke-free, cigarette-free" etc....and do that with all of his triggers. You can also have him imagine a visual where he's in the middle (like, as if he were a wheel, and going out from him are all of the spokes/wires/strings) and going out from him are attachments and at the end of each is a trigger...driving, getting up in the morning first thing, after meals, stress from a certain person, or work, etc., and have him destroy the connections in a powerful way (burn them, disintegrate them, blow them up)...permanently and forever ...then lots of firm direct suggestions (e.g. "you REFUSE to smoke, you REJECT cigarettes and smoking, you ARE a non-smoker and you'll BE a non-smoker for the rest of your life and it's easy....)etc....
Re:
Also listen to why he's still smoking, tell him he's got to 'not smoke', get rid of all of his cigarettes before he comes to his session, and to let the hypnosis make it easier. Record his session and give him the mp3 to listen to nightly as he falls asleep, for at least 30 days. you could even make a 5 minute refresher to use on a break from work or as needed. Most of my clients don't need to listen for 30 days and they feel great. Good luck/Best wishes!
Re:
For example, When he has the urge to smoke it is now an urge to drink water. the same burn he gets in the back of his throat from smoking he will now get the same enjoyment form the cool water hitting the back of his throat. I have also had clients that I have told under hypnosis that they don't know why but when they smoke their cigarettes just taste terrible and.for some of the session it is beneficial to use hypnotic amnesia they don't know why the changes are they just know that the change is there.
Re: Stop smoking
I have had four clients this week come back to me as they haven't stopped smoking.
I have been doing this for years so am baffled by why now I seem to be less successful.
My technique is to find out why they smoke and to address the smoker part of self and then to ceate healthy alternitives to smoking. As well as to find the smell of tobacco repulsive.
But there are some good suggestions here and I will bring them all in again to see me.
Thanks.
