Client falls asleep
Just wondering how to avoid the client falling asleep. I must have a pretty soothing voice😁 And if they do, how to manage that.
Re: Client falls asleep
Oh I see this has been discussed earlier. It is hard to find the balance sometimes. My 10yr old client was quite restless so perhaps I tried too hard to deepen her. Within the next moment she was asleep.
Re: Client falls asleep
I find that using their name tends to get their attention and brings them up a bit. If you keep an eye on your client closely, you might notice that her head tilts to one side, or her jaw slackens before she falls asleep. You can use these cues to judge when to intervene.
Re: Client falls asleep
I was always taught that it was okay if a client falls asleep and the subconscious mind stills picks up on what you are saying?
Re: Client falls asleep
yes i believe that too but if they are really deep dont be afraid to raise your voice and perhaps get them to acknowledge you by nodding. As you gain more experience you will find it easier. In extreme cases i use a dog clicker lol.
Re: Client falls asleep
during the deepener i say words such as ; and as you go deeper and deeper and deeper still you may just feel like falling asleep but you will find the deeper you go the more that you wont actually be able to go to sleep, as you know it, to but to remain fully awake ,fully aware and yet move to a deeper state of reaxaton than you have previoulsy experienced, , so relaxed so aware ,.even below the dream state ,,,yet not asleep. You can determine when you sleep and no you have now decided not to d oso ,and to experience a journey well below normal sleep , a peaceful place t obe . . ,Raise i finger and let me know that tyou accept that . ,and drop down deeper and deeper etc etc , then od a convincer , and a few more on teh way through , I was taught tha tsleep was ok , but I dont really know .
Re: Client falls asleep
I also use their name to help when I think they are sleeping... or snoring. One time that happened to me! Using their name did work though. I like Alan Wilkins' comment as well. Thanks, Alan, I'll have to try this too.
