Question: Self hypnosis in deep states
Hello 😊
I have a question about something i experience during self-hypnosis.
I listen mostly to (sorely-needed) ego-strengthening script recordings, especially one with a Hartland script. I also listen to other YouTube tapes - I'm particularly fond of one called "Deep Trance Healing"; which I've listened to at least 50 times. I started to blank out and lose time during it and return abruptly at the emerging count-up, with no memory of a chunk of the tape. I thought i was falling asleep, but I've been told that i am likely experiencing an ultradepth state.
I've been given trigger words for somnambulism and Esdaile that i use for the general ego-strengthening recordings, but recently I've been blanking out and returning abruptly during these tapes as well (that don't have the multitude of deepeners).
My question: my goal in self-hypnosis is ego-strengthening. I'd like to know: am I hearing and absorbing the suggestions during these times? Can i use this state to work towards my goal? (If can't do any work in this state, then it's not actually that helpful.)
Re: Question: Self hypnosis in deep states
That is a great state to work on your goals. It is when the conscious mind relaxes and allows the suggestions to reach the inner mind. Keep allowing and expect the improvement.

Thank you very much Glenna. Much obliged.
It is very enjoyable, too. 😊
Re: Question: Self hypnosis in deep states
It is quite common not to remember parts or all of the hypnosis session. Sometimes it is your minds way of helping you process the information because if you were to remember in too much detail you would possibly overthink things and work against the positive suggestions. I hope that makes sense but also it is your minds way of getting you to really relax and focus on the important messages rather than unimportant things in the world around you that may distract such as a noise in the outside environment that you don’t need to respond too. It sounds like you are really enjoying the time during self hypnosis and are getting quite accomplished it sounds. Well done you.
Re: Question: Self hypnosis in deep states
Arons Depth Test allows 6 levels of hypnosis...they all work fine. Level 1,2,3 you remember easily, if you slip into Level 4, you may have temporary amnesia, but your subconscious mind is always listening. Keep enjoying!
Re: Question: Self hypnosis in deep states
Thank you for weighing in, Colleen. I was trying to PM you on Uncommon Knowledge, as you mentioned these levels before, when i posted there a few months ago. But I'd not been given PM "privileges" yet. I looked up Arons levels when last you told me about them, but of course it's not something I can assess myself.
I was told by the hypnotist I had the sessions with, just recently, that the fact that I always emerge when the audio says to do so, shows I've not been asleep, but in deeper (amnesic) trance.
"...your subconscious mind is always listening." is exactly what I was wanting to know, if it was doing. That means I don't need to do anything but let go and let my mind go where it wants to take me.
Re: Question: Self hypnosis in deep states
Thank you very much Elizabeth
Yes, i can see how it makes sense that not remembering would keep it from being picked apart and analysed to death by the conscious. :) that's clever. Thanks.

Has anyone practiced <a href="https://yogachapter.com/tratak-sadhana-trataka-meditation-benefits-and-danger/">Trataka Meditation</a> for self-hypnosis?
Re: Question: Self hypnosis in deep states
Hi, Karen, we were born with everything we need for this life. I suggest doing self hypnosis but do not use tracks recording, simply self hypnosis and second, try not to think in everyday life, see how long you can stop thinking, 5 seconds, 10,20 seconds that way you will make mental "revolution" in your mind. Ego structure needs our thoughts in order to exists, so when you stop thinking it will unfold all your features (i'm not sure if this is the right word, English is not my mother tongue)
Re: Question: Self hypnosis in deep states
Hi Karen, to answer your question on whether you are hearing and absorbing the suggestions, are you noticing any positive changes in your life? If so, this should tell you if the sessions are working or if you need a different approach.
