Anxiety
I have been doing hypnosis for a year and have had very good results with everyone but one person. This client has a very high level of anxiety and does not sleep well and "never rests". We have utilized hypnosis scripts working on her anxiety. This client is the only one I have seen whose feet will fidget, she keeps her hands clasped and she may bite her lips. She agrees that she goes into a hypnotic state but....she does not like hypnosis and feels that it is not working for her. Now I know that no one therapy works for everyone so, by mutual agreement, we are giving hypnosis a rest and working on her anxiety by other means and then, perhaps we will come back to hypnosis. Anyone have any suggestions. I have tried progressive relaxation, different inductions and different deepeners .spending time allowing her to relax her body. I am very curious about this.
Re: Anxiety
Fear is the reason that someone can't be hypnotised. She must have a real grasp of how the mind works and understand and be cool with what happens during hypnosis. People think they will lose control, tell their darkest secrets or not 'wake up'. Building rapport and trust is the most important part of the therapy. What is discussed before entering trance is more important than what is said during it.
Re: Anxiety
Hi Kryse, if your client decides to give hypnosis another go you could try the Autogenic Programming approach as this gives the client more control over the session and its outcome.
