Hypnosis for Dementia Sufferers

A study conducted by Dr Simon Duff of the University of Liverpool has found hypnotherapy to be beneficial to dementia sufferers.

The study compared the effects of hypnotherapy against a group receiving their usual treatment and another who were attending a discussion group.

The results of this experiment, which took place over a nine month period of weekly sessions, showed the patients receiving their usual treatment displayed a small decline in symptoms.

The ones attending the discussion group remained the same as before the experimental study and the group receiving hypnotherapy showed a marked improvement across all the areas that were looked at.

Hypnosis was shown to enhance the quality of life for these subjects who experienced an improvement in concentration, memory and socialization in comparison to the other two groups.
