Guilt after suicide of son
Have client with guilt following suicide a year ago of son. She blames herself for being too protective. She is very spiritual.

Hi Helen, sorry to hear about your clients loss, it must be terrible for her. Her guilt is probably part of the grieving process and I guess it will take her a long time (if ever) to fully recover. There are a few scripts that might be worth looking at for some ideas - perhaps you can adapt them? The ones that spring to mind are: Loss of a Child, Bereavement (or Loss of a Loved One) and Guilt. Perhaps you could consider using Parts Therapy or have her hold an imaginary conversation with her son whereby he reinforces that it was in no way her fault (which Im sure it wasnt). Most parents are protective of their children - his suicide was probably connected to something totally different.
