Stroke victims
Has anyone ever successfully worked with stroke clients, any help would be appreciated regarding scripts and session structure.
thanks
Re: Stroke victims
Yes! I have worked with Stroke victims using the program Rewire Your Brain" taught by USA Hypnotist, Don Mottin. He had a stroke and wrote this program from personal experience. I see stroke survivors and their families for 3 sessions, one week apart - using Dons scripts very sucessfully. The healthy brain cells are told to take over the function of the brain cells that were damaged by stroke. Many times well intentioned therapists tell patients - that their progress is as good as it gets, and this simply is NOT so - they can continue to make physical and emotional progress by changing their thinking, and, hence, changing their reality.
Re: Stroke victims
Hi
I personally had a stroke 6 years ago and have fully recovered but used a lot of hypnotherapy during my rehabilitation and have since gone on to retrain as a hypnotherapist as a result. I am just setting up in practice and one client base I would love to work with are stroke survivors (we hate the title stroke victim - we survived on whatever level so are survivors :-) ) and would love more information about Don Mottin's system. I have Googled but cannot find out any information about how to acquire the scripts - sadly I'm not in a position to travel to Dallas as would seem is the case to undertake the training although I'd love to be able to.
Re: Stroke victims
Yes i too would be most interested in finding some scripts and getting some guidance from therapists that have worked with stroke survivors. My mum had a stroke 18 months ago, and since then i have been approached by a number of stoke support groups to give talks. This is quite unrelated to my mum, just the universe doing it's thing! I have tried to research via google and come up with nothing. I can't afford to go to Dallas, i have email Don Mottin and not had a reply or acknowledgement. There must be someone somewhere that can assist me find out more .... please
Re: Stroke victims
Yes,Helping with treatment of Stroke can be very satisfying.I have treated about
4 Clients in the past 6 years with some success.I always tell clients Hypnotherapy
is experiential and not a guarantee to recovery.I usually take about 6 sessions.
I have found the script by Marlene E.Hunter,MD very very good and makes perfect sense.I have used most of her scrips from time to time or adapted them to suit my own verbal flow if you like.her book is called "Creative Scripts for Hypnotherapy".I hope you find this book helpful.
