Why hypnotherapy?
The study of the mind is a fascinating subject and will suit those with an
interest in psychology or counselling.
All hypnosis is, in essence, self-hypnosis, and very few people (if indeed,
anyone at all) are incapable of being hypnotized. Therefore everyone can
benefit in some way from hypnosis, provided they are guided by an
experienced individual who understands the way the subconscious mind
functions.
Thorough training in hypnosis is essential; dealing with someone’s mind is
an enormous responsibility and this Training Course in clinical hypnotherapy
aims to provide comprehensive knowledge and professional training..
Workshops
This Course is designed to teach you all you need to know to practice
hypnotherapy competently and with total confidence. A large section of the
Course is distance learning based, however the exercises contained in the
(optional) workshops provide an excellent opportunity to put theory into
practice.
You will practice inducing hypnosis and experimenting with different
techniques until you find the ones that suit you, and you will receive
invaluable feedback afterwards. The workshops, as well as being informative,
also give you a chance to experience hypnosis for yourself.
Dates and Times
Some of the training is done on a one-to-one basis and mutually suitable
dates and times can be arranged. Workshops are presently held twice yearly
and students may attend as many times as they wish. Workshops are kept
reasonably small (8 to 12 people at a time) to allow some individual
attention for each participant.
Students traveling from further afield may consolidate their practical
training into two days. These usually (but not always) take place after
lesson five, by which time it is envisaged that sufficient knowledge will
have been acquired to effectively induce a trance for a basic problem
requiring suggestion therapy, (i.e. smoking or weight loss).
Course Contents
The home study section is designed to be completed at your own pace – with a
recommended minimum of three months. On enrolment you will be provided with
a reading list of five books and whilst not essential to the Course, it is
anticipated that you will find each one of these books a valuable source of
additional information and inspiration.
Included within the Course is a glossary of hypnotic terms and a specially
chosen selection of cassettes to give you another chance to experience
hypnosis for yourself. The benefits of these cassettes are three-fold – they
will help you to experience being in hypnosis and so recognize similar signs
in your own clients – they will show you how to formulate your own
inductions and create your own cassettes – and a special ‘Confidence for
Therapists’ cassette will help to programme your own mind for your
successful future career! A set of over fifty hypnotherapy scripts is also
included.
The Resource Section in Lesson Eight contains samples of leaflets, GP
introductory letter, press release, advertisements and various forms that
you will need to help you once you’re started on your new career.
Fees
The fee for the Course is just £45.00 ($70.00) for each Module and offers
excellent value. No other Course offers such individual support and advice
both throughout the Course and at any time after enrolment (for no
additional cost). You will be advised on the best insurance deals,
recommended journals, legal requirements and tips for setting up your
business.
Promotion
Your progress will be constantly monitored with short interim question
papers to ensure you have understood the course content. Case histories will
be presented to you for discussion or short essays regarding possible
therapeutic approaches and valuable feedback will be given. If you need it,
then help and advice is available 24 hours a day.

Examination
On completion of the Course there is a written examination that can be
completed in your own time. There is also a short assessment interview and
you will be required to submit an induction tape of your own making, and
induce hypnosis with another person in the presence of the examiner.
Overseas students or those who are unable to attend in person for the
examination are required to complete a slightly lengthier written paper in
place of the in-vivo consultations.
The examination is optional. However students who have not completed the
examination will receive only the Certificate of Completion.
Remember, individual help and advice is available throughout.
Diploma
The Diploma of Hypnotherapy is issued to successful students on completion
of the examination. There is no charge for the examination. Whilst there is
no legislation governing the practice of hypnotherapy, your clients will
expect to see evidence that you have trained and qualified in this field and
the Diploma will give you confidence in your own ability, knowing that you
have learned all that you need to know to practice your skills effectively.
All schools, boards, colleges of hypnotherapy are equal and no ONE has any
credence over the other.
On completion of the examination you will be fully entitled to use the
designatory letters DHp after your name – Diploma in Hypnotherapy – and if
for any reason a student does not meet the requirements of the examination
they will receive constructive feedback and advice to enable them to succeed
in the future. Successful students will be recommended for membership of the
Professional Hypnotherapy Association.
If you decide to become a hypnotherapist you will undoubtedly find it an
interesting and rewarding occupation. You will meet all sorts of people from
all walks of life – no two cases will be the same. You may be asked to
appear on radio, TV. or to write articles for magazines or newspapers.
Once qualified you can set up your private practice whenever you like. A
section of the Course covers all that you need to know to do this
successfully. You can decide on your own fees, currently anything between
£25.00 to £100.00 a session, depending on the area in which you choose to
work.

Support
It is recognized that although this Course is fully comprehensive and will
teach you all you need to know to practice hypnotherapy successfully, there
may still be times when you need extra advice and support after setting up
your practice. A support line is set up in order that you may do this and
you will be given personal assistance with your enquiry, free of charge, for
two years after qualifying.
Investment
Your training in Hypnotherapy is an investment for the future. You will have
provided yourself with another means of income for the rest of your life.
There is no upper age limit for Hypnotherapists and many people continue in
this profession for as long as they desire. The cost of the Course will be
covered within the first few months of practice.
